BUFFALO, NY - University at Buffalo Student-Athletes participated in the annual May community service initiative, Project ACES. At this event all athletes exercised simultaneously with the students at Windermere Boulevard Elementary.
Members of the UB football, men's basketball, volleyball, wrestling, and women's soccer teams led various exercise stations in front of the school, and the entire school participated. Activities consisted of athlete led jumping jacks, speed skaters, dancing, stretching and more. This was a fun activity for our athletes and the students at Windermere Boulevard Elementary.
Project ACES is a national, annual athletics event focused on encouraging children to engage in physical activity and healthy lifestyle. Project ACES began back in 1989 by Physical Education Teacher Len Saunders, of New Jersey. Len wanted to get one school in every state to exercise at the same time on a specific day in May to motivate his physical education classes to exercise. The program was also designed to show the importance of Physical Education in school!
