BUFFALO, NY -- The University at Buffalo, and the student-athlete advisory committee (SAAC), hosted several events last week in celebration of the Mid-American Conference’s Diversity and Inclusion Week from October 1st to the 5th.
The Mid-American Conference (MAC) announced today the first-ever individual award winners for achievements in diversity & inclusion with the MAC Diversity & Inclusion Administrator and Student-Athlete awards. Kathy Twist was a co-winner of the Administrator award, while senior thrower Devon Patterson was recognized as the student-athlete.
University at Buffalo Director of Athletics Mark Alnutt has announced that Nate Wills has been promoted to Deputy Athletic Director, Chief Operating Officer. Wills was promoted from Senior Associate Athletic Director for Administration, a position he held since 2013.

The Mid-American Conference announced today the Distinguished Scholar Athletes from the eight spring sports during this 2017-18 academic season as 138 students were voted by faculty athletic representatives at MAC institutions representing the ‘best of the best’ from each sports Academic All-MAC Teams. Buffalo, which sponsors teams in five of the right sports, had seven individuals named Distinguished Scholar Athletes.

The University at Buffalo was the recipient of the 2018 Institutional Sportsmanship Award presented on Wednesday, May 30 at the Mid-American Conference Honors Dinner, as part of the Conference annual Spring Meetings at the Cleveland Renaissance Hotel. This marks the first time UB has received this special honor as voted upon by MAC membership.
The University at Buffalo held its annual spring commencement over the weekend and 69 student-athletes crossed the stage to receive their diplomas. Every team had at least one graduate with the football team leading the way with 14 graduates.

The newly appointed executive board is President Devon Patterson, Vice-President Matthew Mercer, Community Outreach Max Glazowski, Spirit Officer Gianna Yurchak, and Secretary Selina von Jackowski. Yurchak is a member of the women’s soccer team, while the remained of the E-Board are members of the cross country and track and field programs.
