The University at Buffalo held its annual spring commencement over the weekend and 69 student-athletes crossed the stage to receive their diplomas. Every team had at least one graduate with the football team leading the way with 14 graduates.
The University at Buffalo Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) recently held their elections for the 2018-2019 executive board. The newly appointed executive board is President Devon Patterson, Vice-President Matthew Mercer, Community Outreach Max Glazowski, Spirit Officer Gianna Yurchak, and Secretary Selina von Jackowski. Yurchak is a member of the women’s soccer team, while the remained of the E-Board are members of the cross country and track and field programs.

The Mid-American Conference announced today the Distinguished Scholar Athletes from the eight winter sports during this 2017-18 academic season as 152 students were voted by faculty athletic representatives at MAC institutions representing the ‘best of the best’ from each sports Academic All-MAC Teams. In recognition of a leadership gift made by the Murchie family to the recently announced fieldhouse, the UB Council endorsed a resolution, on Monday, to name the new fieldhouse at the University at Buffalo, the Murchie Family Fieldhouse in honor of former UB hockey player Tunney Murchie and his family. The naming is subject to the approval of the SUNY Chancellor and the SUNY Board of Trustees.
The longtime dream of an on-campus fieldhouse at the University at Buffalo will soon be a reality. University at Buffalo Director of Athletics Allen Greene announced on Friday that the university has secured the services of Rochester-based LeChase Construction as the general contractor and New York-based architecture firm CHA for the project.

The NCAA released annual Division I Academic Progress Rate (APR) data on Thursday afternoon and nine UB programs had perfect single-year rates for 2015-16, while men’s tennis continues to lead the charge with a perfect four-year rate.
