Five UB Athletes Selected as SUNY Chancellor’s Scholar-Athlete Award Winners
Five University at Buffalo student-athletes have been selected as SUNY Chancellor’s Scholar-Athlete Award winners for the 2011-12 academic year. The Chancellor’s Scholar-Athlete Award was created in 2003-04 to recognize students who have combined academic excellence and outstanding athletic achievement at the Division I, Division III and NJCAA levels at SUNY schools.

Women's Basketball Holds Senior Day As Part of UB Doubleheader
It will be senior day for the women's basketball team Saturday at noon, with the team honoring its five seniors before taking on the Ohio Bobcats. The game will precede the men's game against Miami (OH), to be held at 3 pm.

Bulls Basketball Prepares for First Doubleheader of the Season
For the first time this season, the men's and women's basketball teams will play a home doubleheader. The Saturday afternoon games will be the final crossover games against the Mid-American Conference's West Division, with the women facing Central Michigan at 3 pm while the men take on Western Michigan at 6 pm.

UB Athletics Announces Upgrades to Alumni Arena
The University at Buffalo’s Alumni Arena will be showcasing a new look and game-day atmosphere as the winter season of athletic and cultural events gets underway. Included in the enhancements are state-of-the-art sound and lighting systems as well the installation of a new video and scoring system. The project is a collaborative effort between UB Facilities, Planning & Design and the Division of Athletics with funding provided by the university’s critical maintenance fund and private dollars.

Five alumni will be inducted into the Dr. and Mrs. Edmond J. Gicewicz Family UB Athletics Hall of Fame on Friday, Sept. 17 in the UB Center for the Arts Atrium on the North Campus. In addition, three others will receive honors for their support of and service to the UB athletics program. The induction ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. followed by a dessert reception with open bar at 7:30 p.m.

Thanks to a $220,000 gift from former University at Buffalo hockey player Tunney Murchie and his family, the newly renovated practice facility in Alumni Arena will be named in honor of Ed Wright who has served UB for over 40 years as a coach, administrator and teaching professional.

University at Buffalo to Name Newly Renovated Athletic Training Center
Four University at Buffalo orthopaedic surgeons in University Sports Medicine have raised almost $200,000 to name the newly renovated athletic training facility in Alumni Arena on the North Campus. The state-of-the-art facility will be named the Michael F. Rielly Athletic Training Center in honor of Mike Rielly who was head athletic trainer at UB for almost 26 years.

Buffalo Athletics Set for a Busy Weekend
It’s a dream weekend for fans of UB athletics, as six different teams will be in action in a span of less than 24 hours this Friday and Saturday on the University at Buffalo campus. The weekend will feature the season openers for both Bulls basketball teams, a national top-10 foe squaring off against the Buffalo wrestling team in Alumni Arena and a rematch of the 2008 MAC Championship for football.
