BUFFALO, NY – The 2017 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Football Team was announced on Thursday and University at Buffalo players Tim Roberts and Tomas Jack-Kurdyla were selected to this year's first team. The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
Roberts is a social science interdisciplinary major with a 3.68 grade point average. The senior safety ranks sixth on the team in tackles with 52. He also has a tackle for loss, an interception and a forced fumble on the year.
Jack-Kurdyla has started all nine games at right guard for the Bulls this season. He has been a part of one of the top offensive line units in not only the Mid-American Conference, but the nation. The unit was one of 16 named to the mid-season watch list for the Joe Moore Award – given annual to the country's top offensive line. A sophomore sociology major, Jack-Kurdyla has a 3.60 grade point average.
Roberts and Jack-Kurdyla now advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, with first- and second-team Academic All-America honorees to be announced in December.
