Bulls End Weekend With Loss To Binghamton

COLLEGE PARK, MD – The University at Buffalo softball team ended its weekend at the Maryland Invitational Tournament with a 9-2 loss to Binghamton.

The Bearcats got out to the quick start with five runs in the first inning against UB starter Charlotte Miller, including a grand slam home run.  The Bulls scored two in the bottom half of the inning as junior Danielle Lallos singled through the right side, driving in freshman Jenelle Martinez. Lallos then came in to score on a single by Jessica Goldyn.

Binghamton added to its lead with two runs in the second inning and then added one run in the fifth and sixth.

The Bulls had six errors in the game, leading to a majority of the Binghamton runs in the game. Buffalo had five hits in the game including hits from Lallos, Goldyn, Miller, Essence Savinon, and freshman Ufuoma Ogagan.

"We didn't start the game off on the right note today," said head coach Trena Peel.  "Three errors, HBP, and then a HR.  We answered right back and scored two but, couldn't put anything else together offensively.  The bottom line is that we have to play error free defense. We can't have more errors than hits. It's very hard to win games like that."

UB will remain on the road Tuesday when the Bulls face George Washington in a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 pm.
